Vile vile weather

I have one who yells her head off when kept in.

And one who is shouting the house down about being left out.

And both will yell if they spend the night apart.

Mim is actually chasing my car down the driveway and shouting at me about wanting to come in.

They have five acres and there is actually still grass, she just doesn’t like wet. Cold is fine, not wet. Like a cat.

Similar!
Awkward animals.

I exercised all of mine yesterday (think it was the best day of the week for weather here) and today I managed to turn out for 5 hours. There doesn’t seem to be an end to this relentless wind and rain!

It's been constant rain and wind since before Christmas and today was awful mine came in about 2pm and I put them back out at 8pm.

It's stopped raining for now but more expected tomorrow I'm sick of it now 😪

Mine have been out every day but we are lucky to have a lot of free draining land. That said, there’s still mud in the gateways and everywhere is squelchy. It’s me who is thoroughly fed up. I just want it to be dry and not blowing a gale. I don’t care if it’s too cold to ride, I just need less rain!
Yep, both me and the youngster can cope with cold and even some rain - but the gales and heavy rain is a no go!

Probably not helping but, with the recent weather, I'm really glad I don't have a horse. I'm fed up enough with not feeling like going out for a run at the moment. I've been lucky with my riding lessons, in that I've only had one cancelled at the beginning of December when the outdoor school at my RS was too frozen to use and there wasn't space in the indoor. I do feel for all of you having to look after outdoor beasties at the moment. :(

Vile & wet & windy here… have not sat on my horse since 17th and not done groundwork since last Friday.

Boxing Day might have been a possibility but timings didn’t work with family stuff (I worked Xmas day).

Hoping to get back on tomorrow if it’s less vile. Debating seeing if there’s a local indoor I can hire on Fri to re-motivate myself! Pony is unrugged with a sort of trace / Irish clip hybrid so may just have to accept that he will be a bit damp! I want to shave it all off so I can rug him (Highland with coat like a yak, it’s about 2 inches thick so he’ll overheat if I don’t remove it before rugging, plus he could always do with shedding a few pounds!) but no way am I doing that until he’s actually back in work! (He’s had a few months off due to field injury & abscess and the weather keeps getting in the way of actually getting him back in proper work!)

As for ground conditions THANK THE LORD for mud mats in their various forms, although having to come off the pathway to steer around a pony whilst pushing a barrow of poo & having to enter the sludge does make me cry a little inside (and I only do it 3 days a week to earn the funds to keep the horsebox on the road!)

Also thank all that is holy for my equidry & decathlon raincape & soft shell jods!

Horrendous hail beating down plus thunder and lightning here at the moment hail is so loud you can't hear the TV!
The lights keep dimming waiting for the power to go out. Can't believe how bad it is.
The 2 dogs who are only 2 years and 5 months old don't seem at all bothered and are asleep on the sofa thank goodness .
This winter is the worst I've known for ages hope we get some quieter weather soon its a long winter!

The wind and the rain here is so loud there's no chance of getting any sleep. Crossing my fingers that everything is surviving and will still be in one peace in the morning.

Horses are out with access to a shelter and stable with hay in but I suspect they'll be out in the field still.

I'm usually a Rambo/ Rhino fan but for anyone looking for a cheaper alternative the gallop trojan rug has stood up to the recent storms and I've been really impressed with it.

I think that this year gets the trophy for Worst Weather Ever. I feel like it hasn't stopped raining for the entire year (we've had a muddy gateway all year) and this winter so far has just been dreadful. I've had a fitful sleep worrying about the wind taking our stables to pieces - so far they've stood up well but it makes me feel sick! The horses don't seem to care that much but I've barely been riding because of it

It really does feel like the longest winter ever... I think it feels worse because we had such rubbish miserable summer weather too!! I just want to fast forward to March ....
The winds here (Shropshire) are awful... 50mph winds and torrential rain. I cant begin to imagine how bad it is in places where you've got 70 + mph winds!!! 😣
