Vintage saddle help

Hello all recently joined just to try find out some info on a saddle i have.it will be on sale on ebay.
Looks to be old and seems to be in good condition for age made by davis & co strand london
was stored in my grandfathers loft for many years so been dry cant seem to add pictures as says seems to larger for server to process

You need to edit the photos to make them smaller, or host them somewhere like imgur and link to them.

Generally old saddles are worth almost nothing, they have very narrow channels and anything that's not been in use will need a full strip flock which will cost more than the saddle is worth. As a decorative antique I can't imagine it would be worth anything either, sorry!

Agree with above some pubs and shops buy them as decorative pieces but I don't think they go for cry much money.

If you are in no hurry to get rid of your saddle, Walsall Leather Museum may be interested in it for one of their displays - depending upon the age etc.

Also, Nick Creaton (He is a coach and trainer - Google him - he will come up) is interested in old saddles, and he does collect them. Whilst his main interest is side-saddles, he has a wealth of knowledge, and he may be able to help you or answer any questions you have. Who knows, he may even want to buy it from you!

Old non usable saddles sell fairly well on eBay - you can often get £25-40 plus postage for one! There are collectors out there, and other people buy them for displays or to strip down for leather.

I sold two ancient English hunting saddles recently for £50, cost me £5 at a tack auction back when we were allowed such things.

I guess I was more aware of the £5 side of things! £50 obviously isn't a lot for a saddle but not an insignificant sum, I have some nasty old ones here, maybe they need to go up on ebay!

There is a lady near me that buys old tack and turns them into hand bags and jewellery. She came and gave me £50 for an old saddle and some broken bits of leather in the summer
