I get my blades sharpened by a company (call them 'x'). I live nearby and I fix the managers car. One day, while, I was talking to the manager about my horse saying that it was rolling on the floor and that the our vet was away she told me her husband is a horse vet. I live fairly close by so the managers husband came and saw my horse and gave him some laxitives for free. It scared me because I didn't know what was wrong with him (Dusty). It turns out he had cholic. I did not know this at the time. He helped me for free when he did not need to, the way I see it, the company went an extra mile (and the rest). As a favour I am have recomended them in loads of threads that ask 'where can I get my clipper blades sharpened' I believe I am extending 'word of mouth' I am answering peoples specific questions in a very honest and fair way! An experienced user posted posts after a few of them emplying I was doing 'viral marketing' Do you agree? Do you think I have done anything wrong or is it a perfectly acceptable thing to do? Thanks!

The entire content of your OP is suspect to say the very least !
Its strikes me as slightly strange that you know enough to clip a horse, but not enough to recognise the signs of colic. If your vet was away he /she would surely have left a locum to cover emergencies, or had the receptionist pass on calls to another practice? How lucky that you mentioned your horses ailment to someone in a non horsey enviroment who just happened to be marrried to an equine vet, who treated your horse for nothing !
I'm also not sure how you can have recommended them 'in loads of threads' when you've only made 7 posts !
Perhaps you should post more often, & on a wider variety of topics (other than where people may get their clipper blades sharpened).

Zebedee - I think the OP has had posts removed, as I seem to remember his / her user name cropping up last night in reference to clipper sharpening.

OP - if the company had done you a favour on the course of there work i.e. Sharpening blades, I could understand this thinking. It seems a little odd tbh

And yes - if you come on a forum, which has specific no advertising rules, and the only thing you post about is this company, then that IS viral marketing

Sorry I know this is my first post, but I am a serial lurker!!! :)
:)

LOL I AM A MECHANIC! Not a pro horse clipper! The horses are my wifes! I know enough about clipping? Well theres a compliment! If I do I certainly know nothing about horse in general, thats mainly my wife's thing! I 'know' the manager of the company because I fix her car, so we are chatty on the phone! My OP (I'm guessing that stands for online profile!) hasn't been removed. I do comment on the odd thing here or there, I spent ages reading up about clippers to pass on some advice to someoene once, then thought it was too much effort to do it all the time, so I only post about what I actually know about!
So I 'know' the manager of the company...does this make a difference?
thanks for your comments anyway!
