No they aren't doing one this year. It got a lot of slagging from the racing fraternity after they had Many Clouds fall in the legends one and he had never fallen or lost a jockey in his career.
I also really enjoyed watching it, especially as the "horses" did weird and wonderful things such as refusing etc
How sad that people moaned about such a trivial thing.... I believe Tiger Rolls record was pretty immaculate, wonder if they'd have moaned about him falling - found people tended to idolise Many Clouds a bit.
As an aside ITV best show the parade of former winners, rather than freaking fashion/drunken idiots etc. Surely they're at the course for the day - why not go spend some time with their owners and do a little snippet about what each is up to nowadays? Would far prefer that! Isn't Tiger doing some showing? Pineau eventing? So how about a little feature on how they've retrained them for these?
Many Clouds is a legend of jumps racing. He was the first horse in over a century to win another good race after he won the National and only the 2nd to win again after it. Yes we idolised him partly because of his exploits on the track but also because of the sad way he went out on his sheild. It was an insult to have him fall in the virtual national when he had never fell or unseated in a race in his life.
