One of my horses had a virus about 6 weeks ago, he recovered well after about a week with no treatment, except a vit b jab and lots of tlc.
Now my other horse, since yesterday has similar symptoms. Gone off hard feed (normally hares in from field for it), not eating much hay (for him), didn't drink hardly anything last night, bit down, lethargic and lost his spark. His poos were slightly on the loose side and his temp was 38.9.
Last weekend also a girl came to look around our yard whose horse has strangles at another yard!! She didn't inform us of this but turns out other liveries knew her and said pony. My horses were in at the time so she may have said hello to them?! Therefore this worries me slightly.
He has no signs of swollen glands or snot (yet!) but has viral symptoms. He did seem to have perked up a bit but his temp is quite high.
If no improvement tomorrow I will get the vet out most definitely (despite yo thinking I'm a bit ott)!!
Just after some vibes, experiences or advice really!
Iv never had them both catch virus's but now in a yard where the yo deals so lots coming in and out.

Last few days also a lady came to look around our garden whose equine has strangles at another yard!! She didn't notify us of this but changes out other liveries realized her and said equine. My farm pets were in at enough time so she may have said hello to them?! Therefore this problems me a little bit.

I would imagine she was very careful and there is nothing to worry about. Lots of virus' including strangles going round at the moment. When I worked at the vets they said that unless you were unlucky you would practically have to wipe snot from one horse to another to transfer it. Most get it through touching noses, water troughs or grazing. Try bot to worry too much buy swabs and vet won't hurt.
