Had a good day yesterday at the Royal Windsor Horse Show. It was quite slow getting in as they were doing thorough bag searches (note to people in front of us - please get your bags out from under your buggy and opened before getting to security ?).

Enjoyed watching all the show jumping, Shetland Grand National, Household Cavalry, etc. The last class was the puissance and 3 horses amazingly cleared 7’ 1”. I haven’t seen a puissance life for years and it looked huge.

Our paid for reserved seats weren’t so good though as they had put crowns around the arena, I assume for the evening performance, but they blocked our view of fences, including the wall in the puissance. We can’t have been the only ones affected as they were all around the arena. (Sorry, no idea why pics have come out sideways)

Food and drink were ridiculously expensive as usual, even more than Badminton last week - £4.30 for a coffee!

I went yesterday too with some family, those crowns were rather annoying! Luckily as we didn't reserve seats we could just choose to sit somewhere else though. It took me about 20 mins to get in with the bag searches but I thought all of the staff were fantastic, so friendly, stopped people from going to and from seats when a round was in progress in the 1.40cm, there was no rubbish and lots walking around picking bits up and the parking was well managed too. I was also impressed with the shopping - there were some real good deals! I knew it would be extortionate for food so I brought a small picnic with me.

Loved the Puissance, I have seen it on TV and possibly at an Olympia a while ago but not for a long time. The mounted games were fab too!! I love how they vault on. I wasn't keen on the Oman Cavalry display but the rest of the day was brilliant. The Musical Cavalry ride was quite emotional at the end!

Obviously not as good as Badminton but still a decent amount of stalls. A lot of high end ones though. There were a few big horse shops but next to no feed suppliers and few supplement sellers so no free samples or many offers.

just read above post - I suppose it depends on what you were looking for!

Oh definitely. I thought there were a good amount of tack shops/general horse type shops with either clothing or numnahs/rugs/jodphurs etc available at good prices, compared at least to the Hickstead ones which all seem to be £80 supplements, £4000 saddles or £1000 pieces of art

We went late in the afternoon ahead of going for the evening performance.
There was a group of chestnuts doing quadrille that were just gorgeous - annoyingly their intro didn’t cover who they were if anyone happens to know?

I loved the mounted games ponies most.
I didn’t see the Oman riders in the day but evening I was very impressed they were all bareback and a lot of female riders too.

We disappeared into windsor for tea between afternoon and evening so missed a bit but overall had a lovely time.
Reasonable number of stalls to mooch through (mostly seeing how the other half live!), found some bargain basement breeches, it wasn’t too crowded and I got a Mr Whippy ice cream! (We don’t tend to get ice cream vans around here, it was eye watering lot expensive but I expected it tbh)
