We are coming to Ireland between the 11th & 18th Sept. We wondered if there any shows on at that time we colud look at. I have found one called Clonaslee - anyone know it - is it worth having a look. An agricultural show would be great with horse classes obviously! We plan to attend Gorsebridge around that time too, but fancied something different as well. Any ideas really appreciated on where we could go !!
thanks

Pitty you didn't come a month earlier as you just missed the biggest horse show in Ireland ( RDS Horse Show ) but you could always try visiting some stables around or Kildare National Stud, I haven't been there myself but I hear it's very good!

hi
yes been there few times. nearly came this time but had a lot on at home! Came to judge years ago at Waterford - came on the ferry - that was type of show we wouldn't mind seeing - bit of everything. Has to be Sept cos we will have finished our outdoor shows then! we've been to the national stud. will have to be just the sales then & some 2non horsey" stuff!!!

Or three weeks later and you could have seen Ballinasloe Horse Fair.

However, you could visit the National Stud and the Curragh race course in Kildare.

The Listowel racing festival is on in Kerry from the 11/09 - 17/09, a mix of flat and national hunt racing and craic, try the Goracing.ie website for details or Horse racing Ireland. Or there is eventing at Lisgarvan House, Ballon, co. Carlow on 11/09 (handy if you are going to Goresbridge, not too far away) or the Ballindenisk International Event from 14/09 to (I think) 17/09 and the national one day at the same venue on the 17/09. Check the Eventing Ireland website for eventing details. Ballindenisk is in cork which is the county adjoining Kerry so maybe the races one day and the eventing another? hope you have a great time:).
