Grr, just typed a post out and ipad battery died - so consist version coming up

vet has advised I supplement vit e and selenium.

Horse set has no access to grass - is on all weather turnout area with ad lib hay.

has 850IU of vit e and 2.25mg of selenium daily in feed already

vet doesn't know if it is safe to supplement more so has said to contact nutritionist, which I will do, but wondered if any of you guys know?

and what products are good? Vet has recommended nano e, but this contains vitamin e only.

My vet has recommended one of mine has a vit e and selenium supplement too....he suggested the Equistro Excell E so that's what I bought....I have no idea how good it is!

Be very, very careful with the selenium. There is a strong chance that there is selenium in any other feeds you are already feeding. Overfeeding it will cause far worse issues than not having enough and unfortunately the symptoms are not to dissimilar from each other.

Vit E is understood currently to not be toxic if fed in large quantities and is beneficial for ESPM, lami, IR etc.

You might be better contacting Forage Plus or Progressive Earth to see if they can help with their balancers, which you can add extra to if needed.

The comibination used to be given to those with acute skin issues years ago (such as a similar condition to the sheep problem of Scrapie etc)

WHY has a vet recco'd you use it OP? - what does the vet think you will gain from giving it?
I take it your fuzzy has had the bloods run to determine what is lacking? :)

Be careful in the amounts you give, unless you are doing weekly bloods to back up any issues along the way

He has no symptoms, but a blood test for something else has shown raised muscle enzymes. Vet thinks it is most likely low vit e/selenium. He has equimins metabalance in a tiny blob of grass nuts and ad lib hay. So likely to be very low selenium in the rest of his feed. But I am unsure if if an add any more as the metabalance has good levels of selenium already
