4.5 year old has developed a little wart on area of skin above hoof. currently just one wart on its own. I've read about treating it with some vitamin e cream - what do we reckon? Try to treat it (if so what do you recommend) or leave it alone?

If it is definately a wart you could try thuja cream, this has been shown to have some good results with treating warts and sarcoids. Hilton herbs do a cream rich in thuja, i think its called ditton cream

HILTON HERBS to Virex Thuja cream for warts and sarcoids, this is off ebay.
* Top international brand Hilton Herbs highly effective Virex (Thuja) Cream, previously Ditton, recommended for warts and sarcoids on horses and ponies!

* Taking the finest quality Calendula cream and Witch Hazel extract with its cooling, soothing, drying and astringent properties, rich and effective Calendula oil and Thuja, the traditional herbal and homeopathic plant for warts and sarcoids, Virex cream is safe to use on even the most sensitive areas.

* Sarcoids are thought by experts to be viral in nature, although there is no definite evidence to support this, and although some can be aggressive, experts tell us they are confined to the skin and tissues below only. They can grow in a variety of sites, usually where flies feed and flies are heavily implicated in their spread. Research has found that certain genetic types of horse are more prone to getting sarcoids. Sarcoids can break open and bleed if rubbed or caught, and should be tackled in much the same way as any other infection which has taken advantage of a lowered immune system.

You can also try vitamin E capsules. Break them open and put the liquid on the wart. Vitamin E is believed to be good in getting rid of sarcoids in some instances.

Tea tree oil is very good for treating warts externally and exchinacea fed internally will help the immune system. A lot of youngsters grow out of it but make sure the flies don't make a mess of it!
I don't think all warts are classed as Sarcoids though and I think the treatment for different types of sarcoid is different

Try soaking for 10 minutes a day in vinegar, it worked on a friends warts in 2 weeks. The wart clinic had made no progress in 2 years so worth a try.
