One of the ponies at the stables I go to can be a real 'lump' to get to trot in a beginner lead rein lesson. When trying to get him to trot and others occasionally people say something like "tourron" (not sure how to spell it). Have you ever heard this/ use it?
 
Often pronounced Terrrr-ot with a rising inflection. Turron is a hard spanish sugar based cake. Nice - but not useful to get a pony to trot on. Unless you are running in front I suppose....

Alternatively I suppose you might have heard an inflected growl? A lot of riders growl at naughty ponies - works wonders. There aren't really words in it - more a guttural "getonwithit.." type thing. With or without expletives....
