volunteering query

hi,
this may sound stupid, but i've always wanted to volunteer at horse shows as a steward or doing any general jobs, at like british open, olympia etc.
am i being ridiculous or is there a way i could do this?

I know it is not now but...There is a volunteering scheme for the 2012 olympics that should open for applications in 2010. Maybe you can volunteer for the equestrian events. Will be lots of competition though but you never know.
