pretty much everyone on here has had dealings with vets at one time or another. i thought it would be nice for us to show our apprication and share our good experience.

i'll go first, yesterday my vet really impressed me, my horse isn't the easy for the vets to deal with as if he doesn't want then to do something he knows he is bigger and stronger than us. well yesterday she was trying to give him a steriod injection for his clipper rash (see other post), and as soon as he started, she told him off and made him do what she wanted. as soon as she has finshed she praised and gave him a polo. i think she has come on loads over this last year and her confidence has has shot up and she has restore my faith in vets.

i can actually say i'm looking forward to seeing her friday (for my mare's strangles test) knowing that she'll sort jazz out and that she knows whats she's doing. so my vote goes to suzanne duncan for arundel hospital.
 
My vets are generally very good. I will admit that if I'm going for a specific issue then there are some I won't see.

One in particular oversaw my mares pregnancy and foaling, which was very good, as the yard was quarenteened when she acctually foaled. Very worrying have a new born around then.
 
just wanted to add that, what i said was in no way mean that other vets weren't as good, i was just so impressed with suzanne. so come on please shout about when your vets have impressed you.
 
My vets (mid Wales, specialist equine vets) are stunningly wonderful. When I first moved yards - and therefore vets too - they came out to just say hello to Sunny who has only one eye and his other isn't brilliant. They then spoke to the specialist clinic that had treated him so they had all the background info just in case there was ever an emergency. They leave me with a humungus supply of the special abx ointment he has to have pronto when his remaining eye flares up so I can act fast. One memorable day last summer I found a TINY (and I mean tiny) lump on Sunny's eyelid. Panic. Rang the vets. Straight out. Fly bite, barely visible! They were so kind and said they'd sooner be called out a hundred times and it be nothing than miss the one time it was serious. Bless 'em!

Then when Angel arrived, at death's door they were equally marvellous. And over the last 18 months have smiled sweetly while she tried to kill them as they flushed out the toxins from her liver, squeezed infected goo out of her mastitis-ridden udder, gave her jabs for feather mites and generally tried to get her well again. She's now looking fabulous and - amazingly - the vets are still all alive lol. Since she was backed, she's got much better but they still draw lots in the office if there's a callout for Angel!!!

I'd vote them a medal any day. Approachable, always there, patient and kind. You rock girls x
 
I will vote for Julian Rishworth from the Minster Vet Practice in York, he is the most efficient vet we have ever had at jabbing all the young horses, does them in the field and it is over and done with before they even know what is happening. He is also extremely clever at sexing foals in the womb from scans if they are lying in a good position in the mare, so far he has been right every time. A really good get on with it, no nonsense vet.
 
Didn't realise we could name them! My local vets are Dyffryn Tywi Equine Vets. I'd also put in a vote for Bushy Vets in Dursley, Gloc. Especially Chris, who deserves a medal. They tried to save Sunny's eye. They were brilliant.
 
Wendy, Naomi and Kerry from Avonvale get my vote. Fantastic vets that have come to know my horse well with his never ending problems. Even at 5am they have been chatty and re-assuring!

My vote goes to Chris from Sound Equine...... He has treated Merlin throughout his arthtitis problems and pulled out all the stops to keep him sound and in work......

100% effort and fantastic knowledge..... always willing to chat and discuss the problem in depth rather than skimming over the essentials

Another vote for Bushys this time in Failand. When my girl had cancer, Duncan would answer my calls even when he wasnt on call and on bank holiday weekend, and Scott who was brilliant when she was put to sleep - explained everything well and very sympathetic
 
Two for me!

Lizzie Allen: she specialises in horses but has looked at my dog when I've needed her. Lizzie comes out day or night, answers the phone at any time, always has time for me and and my daft questions, and is kind and thoughtful.

Sue Dyson: kind, as well as knowledgeable and experienced. Looked after my horse and listened to me, didn't make me feel like an idiot and was kind to my horse.
 
I have 2 favourites 1st been all staff at the minster equine in york after treating jacob so well and been so good at letting me be there for treatments,allowing me to go and mollycoddle him during his stays and generally been fantastic.
The vet who was in charge of his treatment very tall handsome guy [called jamie if i remember rightly] came out to deal with a livery 2 years after treatment and he spotted me and asked after jay.He even came to give him a polo and a cuddle before he left and said how lovely he was to have as a patient.

The others been matt brash and stuart from battleflats they have done wonders for me over the years and they have always been so informative.
And they have done so much good work for me and close friends of mine.

Stuart from Tyrrells has been looking after Dolly since she damaged her annular ligament. He has been fantastic.
 
I used to use Mayes and Scrine, Ben and Judy are both fab, and also Laurence O'Hara is very good too (and very cute
blush.gif
) although he's not there any more.
Of course it was all started by Colin Bond who imho was one of the best vets in the country in his day.
 

I second Ben at Mayes and Scrine - He is fab but im a bit to far out to use him now, however if I needed a second opinion or if something was very serious id be over to them in a flash - have a fantastic practice aswell !
