Vote it off the road?

I am not voting and nor will I because I feel the whole thing is a farse and just incites all the road users against each other. We have enough trouble on the roads with intolerance and road rage as it is! I wish we could all just accept each other and our lives, hobbies, transport and working vehicles...rant over!

I've actually sent an email to the programme telling them that I feel that their poll is divisive and trying to stir up resentment amongst different groups of road users and they would be better trying to encourage people to treat all other road users with consideration.

Perhaps a few more forum members should do the same thing?

Nobody uses a road unless it is essential. Nobody thinks one day 'Oh I know, I'll get out my lorry/van/bicycle and go for a random drive'. This poll is ludicrous. And they say Radio 1 is rubbish! This is far worse...

All good points already made. As for horses on the road, would we be so advanced if we did not have the horse? They pulled the barges which delivered everything from coal to garbage. Horses were used to delivery mail, & people from one area to another. They have been used in war, they have given us so much over the years & now some people begrudge them being on the road!

Random driving, say you have sports/cassic car in the garage and once a week you like to take her our (the car) you have a number of roads you can go on to open her up (term used for driving fast). As a horse rider you don't have many places where you can safely have a gallop. It's down to you're safety and the public around you. (mainly dog walkers). I think its down to your council to acknowledge horse riding in the area and provide a safe place to do so. In my area any new/permissive route are used by people walking the dog.

Well you can't gallop on roads...

Just tuned into the JV show to listen to the problem people have with horses...it appears that poo, no insurance and not licenced are the issues! A chap from an authority defended us and explained that we would prefer not to be on the roads but have to travel on them through lack of R of W or to get between bridleways. Someone then phoned in and seemed to think that we should be boxing up to get to the bridleways!!! I think he missed the point there...that the roads act as a link between the bridleways...had visions of my husband waiting for me at the end of each bridleway to box me up and take me 500 yards down the road to the next bridleway!!! Ha, ha, ha!
