Horrid day, pouring rain but rufty tufty BT wants his walk. I got him togged up in his equifleece and me in waterproofs from head to toe and off we went........for about 20 yds and Stanley sat down and refused to budge. Clearly my rufty tufty BT prefers his bed by the aga on a wet day! Anyone else got a wussie terrier?
 
Yes,we have 2 springers and a rufty tufty jrt. On really awful wet or cold mornings he makes his feelings very clear, nips behind the sofa and wont come out until hubby has disappeared with the springers and cant grab him. I wouldnt mind but he is the baby of the pack :)
 
Yep! Same here this morning (and the last few weeks, where is the sun?!), all togged up, and Ted will go the bare minimum to do the necessary morning procedures and then is dragging me back towards the house.

Not a terrier, in fact our JRTs would go out in anything, but the Rottweiler refuses to step over the threshold when it is raining heavily. WE have to physically push her out. The Lab pups of course, don't care a jot but she won't go with them.
 
My BT is the opposite, he loves icy water and used to lie down in frozen flooded fields. Now that he's a geriatric, he does get to wear a coat during snow storms when the temperatures are below freezing, but mostly he manages fine as he's pretty active.
 
Both my terriers prefer a nice comfy bed by the fire/ radiator/ aga. My collie doesn’t care, he just likes to be out and about!
 
We were out all morning taking a horse to the vets. We are back home and frozen. The elderly JRT is squeaking hopefully for a walk, we are trying to persuade him that he would much prefer to stay home in the warm.

ETA OH has given in. He and dog have set off at a scamper for a quick whizz around the block.

I have wussy springer spaniels - even Willow who adores swimming with a passion.

All three of them take one look outside when it's raining, dash out for a quick wee (only because I make them), then get back inside as fast as their legs will allow.

Total wimps but I think it's subliminal messages from me that makes them the dogs they are today :)

I also managed to turn all three horses into stable dwellers when the weather was nasty :rolleyes:
 
Well he went out this afternoon, minus the equifleece, paddled through the stream that was our lane quite happily and has come home wet and rather muddy. Now think it might be the coat he objects to but he has worn it before!
 
Ours has an Equifleece but with a Danish Designs coat on top when he goes out! Hector has no undercoat at all, a really wimpy coat all round (the only advantage being that he does not shed at all).

Even double bagged like that (and the Danish Designs is the one with a Gore Tex outer and a fleece and quilt inner, with the chest protector) he only lasts a couple of minutes before he is shivering. If we don't let him back in then he is ill.

However, Hector has discovered the delights of an electric blanket and has installed himself onto the bed, no more dog-bed for Hector. Even on the bed he has a blue checked padded jacket.

In my defence, I have had loads of dogs previously and none of them ever wore a jacket. I used to think of people with dogs in jackets were using them as baby substitutes. Then Heck came and I realised just how cold (and ill) he can get. He has a full wardrobe. We layer.
 
The spaniels dislike rain so it’s a quick out and straight back in for essential wees, but they couldn’t care if there’s three feet of snow and it’s throwing it down when they’re going for walks. Gits!
 
Two of mine are happy in any weather, particularly my GD X Husky. My Shihtzu x Jack Russel, however, hates the rain. She’s actually not a fan of walking really. She’s ok when she’s out, but when she sees you get her harness and lead she runs away and lies down! She’s vey, very strange!

A few years ago I would have laughed. Now we have a whole selection. He has as many rugs as the horse. Two of them match the horse's rugs :oops::rolleyes:

(whispers - for the first time this year, I bought him a Xmas jumper)
 
My old girl rarely walks now and only if the sun is shining. She goes in the garden for the least possible time. My dog walker used to have to retrieve her from under my duvet on wet days and then she would sit down on the walk or even run back upstairs before they could leave the house. She was like this from day 1 at 8 weeks. My other little terrorist is more hardy but is not keen on heavy rain and dislikes coats. I'm afraid I let them choose - we get ready open the door and see what they want. Both are sleeping in the sunshine through the window on the big sofa - husband has a small area at one end and I am on the other one!
 
The Westie hates going out in the rain, always has down but now she's an old lady she really isn't keen. She gets all excited when the lead comes out, you open the door and she stands there looking at the rain with a. Look of total disgust onnhrr face. The collie doesn't care though, she loves to get out for a good run whatever the weather.
 
Oh yes! My dog walker sent me a photo this week of the JRT buried under a pile of blankets refusing to move. She said she only noticed him because his tail was stuck out of the blankets, wagging! He had to be "persuaded" to go out for a wee!
