Well, after last weeks disaster I thought we did much better today.........................Even if we did get eliminatd
We went HC in the BN today because they weren't running a 90cm Am champs class (but I did get to jump in the big ring which was fab, loads of space!).
I made sure I had loads of time to warm up and he felt fab on the flat but over som of the warm up fences he felt a bit rubbish so I got my friend to wack up the spread and he was spot on, perfect approach, perfect stride an he felt fab so I jumped that twice and went in. On the approach to every fence in the first round he didn't try and bugger off once and on the apprach we had the fab, short, bouncy canter Geoff L told us to get and he was popping eveyrthing perfectly
In the JO we just ambled around because I couldn't get placed but on the approach to 8 we lost the bouncy canter and he ran into it a bit but he was on the right stride so he cleared it so i brought him right back to be on landing but we got in too deep on the 9th fence (thanks to my muppet riding!) and he just rubbed it and had the top rail (people watching could probably hear me saying 'ooohhh I'm sorry, I'm really sorry' to Lymp
We went the long way to no.10 and popped that nicely then fence 11 was a treble (that K&N brown and beige treble) with one non jumping stride in between each fence and we had the nice canter on the approach but I could feel th canter dropping and he started backing off so I put my leg on...nothing, gave him a jab with my spurs nothing so we came to a steady haltin front of it. turned him away and tried again but he wasn't haing any of it so that was the end of our round!
I was so pleased that I had full control of him all the way around bar the last couple of strides into fence 8 so huge improvement there so I wasn't too peeved about the elimination (it really wasn't the nicest looking treble anyway!). Here's the only photo I have...Crap quality because it's off my camera-
Also just before loading Olympic as I was walking beside the covered arena (we have the grass hopper finals at college) there was a liver/dark chestnut horse with loads of white in it's face and I thought it looked familiar then I saw a girl behind it with a light blue jacket on so I wet and spoke to her and it was Hattikins! I hope she got on okay today and it was lovely to meet her
