So I had a saddler out who said that actually my saddle was a quite a nice one with a good tree - he reflocked it as it was bridging and am now happy with it however he said I could do 'W' shaped girth to help stop it moving. I can only find dressage ones - does anyone know where I can get a reasonably priced one for a GP saddle

Shires do a nice leather one with elastic at both ends. Cheaper from Barnstormers.

Fantastic thank you - now all I need to decide on is size 46 or 48 inch - my current humane girth measures just over 47??

My horse's saddle moved forwards and I tried numerous girths. At one point I bought a fantastically expensive Wow W shaped girth and my horse absolutely hated having the W between his legs, he kept grabbing at it with his teeth whilst being ridden. So I sold it. I ended up with a Professional's Choice SMX Neoprene girth which has a removable non slip neoprene backing and has been brilliant, horse a much happier bunny! I think they do them in GP length. Try White Rose Equestrian or ebay.

If your after a girth with grippy neoprene the best one I use is the Shires elasticated girth. It has a removable neoprene section and elastic at both ends. My saddle doesn't move with this one.

With any type of shaped girth the size is VERY important so the curves and bulges are in the right place. If they are in the wrong place behind the elbows they rub very easily.

Personally i dont think humane girths are humane at all. They are actually very narrow, which increases presure and certainly wont help with saddle stability.

You dont necessarily need a w girth for stability but choose one that is as wide as you can get with no elastic. Elastic on one end or both will not help with stability.

Dever do a good, wide neoprene girth with no elastic.
