Waaaaay overpriced?!

TiddlyPom, thank you! Thanks for saying why track racers aren't always the best general riding horse.

They are built for speed, all their joints have angles specifically for that and the shoulders are forward ready to run. They are PERFECT for the racetrack.

Like GS said, if you know how to use physio to help the horse develop different muscles, and help the horse work with its natural posture and lift its spine out of its chest so to speak then it can cope much better with normal riding.

I just haven't the time or the inclination. I may as well just buy a horse who already has the conformation I want built in genetically.

TBH tallyho is depends on the TB. Yes ex-racehorse are cheap most of the time, they are essentially failures, or have had injuries or been retired due to age. Although often they can make nice horses for other careers you are not only buying a 'potential' riding horse, but also are large amount of 'risk'.
It depends what you want, horse with more 'potential', potential that has been realised and less risk of it not working out are worth more.
For me an example is a proven event horse with a good record, passed by the vet and a reasonable age, to an ex-racer which is older, done nothing else but raced, could of had an injury and no realised potential is a very different price, in fact in my case well over £10,000 difference in price! Neither horse was overpriced for what they where.
I suppose in the arab foal case it would depend on the breeding and quality of the foal. I am not involved with arabs, but assume an arab with really potential for the show ring, or breeding or whatever may in the future be worth tens of thousands in the future if the potential is realised.
Of course other factors also affect price, maybe the breeder of this foal thinks an awful lot of it, and is in no rush to sell.

Hmmm.... still no to a tb I'm afraid. I have seen and ridden some super examples. A VHS champion 2013 and couple of other super ones but they are just not my cup of tea. Even tho I love them for who they are. Sorry.

My cousin events a couple of super tbs and i support her 100% and love what she does with them. I'm on my own path with my "fairytale" horses... always been a dreamer.... always will be.
