I feel really sad, my lovely Clydie mare is not talking to me and hasn't done so for the past 5 days. I really miss her cheerful greeting.

She is so mad at me because I have been putting a muzzle on her in the day time and stabling her at night with a small haynet.

Normallly she is smoochy and cuddly but now turns her head away from me when I go to put her head collar on.

Even her favourite mints aren't impressing her. I so hope that she forgives me soon as it is really depressing me.

She might be - never thought of that - we're in late autumn here in NZ and I've just moved paddocks - grass is long and she is already more than overweight. I now have stables and at last have the means to reduce her dimensions and she is not a happy girl.
 
Aw, poor thing, and poor you! Can't you fence off a well grazed patch of grazing? I find horses are much happier being restricted this way than in a muzzle. That's what I do with our two fatties.
 
Go on some long fun hacks together. That way you get horse-human bonding time and she will burn enough calories to have a carrot when she gets back.

Thats the problem - just moved to newpaddocks and they haven't been grazed since being cut for hay a couple of months ago. So no really grazed down patches
 
Humpty Dumpty..........my cob gets a right grump if it doesnt all go his way......I always think I have FOOD written on my forehead! The walking larder! Cruel to be kind............I have just made his grazing area a lot smaller since we had the sprinkle of rain. Been away for a couple of days and when I saw him yesterday he had blown up(well not literally)!
