I am so excited. Altho not quite as perfect a start as I would have wanted.

I got him from Malvern Sales on Tuesday.

He is a 16.2h 5 year old very dark bay TB by King of Diamonds. Had the full vetting which he flew

He is very forward and sensitive to the leg (just what I wanted)

But also very sensible! He behaved wonderfully at the sales never spooked or even looked at anything, but nice and interested in his surroundings

He loaded himself, travelled perfectly and settled into new home like he has always been there!!

I hadn't really had chance to see him without tack at the sale only while he was being vetted.

Since getting him home I have found he is VERY sore under the back of the saddle on his right side, and flicks his back leg out when you touch it or put saddle on. He is also sore down his side

Does improve the more you massage it tho.

suprised and a little peeved vet didn't pick it up. Chiro booked for the earliest day she can get which is next wednesday.
meanwhile I will continue to massage it gently so he is not too sensitive to her touch. Vendor did say he will NOT stand still to get on, well I'm not suprised as the saddle would put pressure on just that point when you mount

I have however had to ride him (a friend gave him a polo and he stood perfect) as you only get 48 hours to return them. I only did a walk and a short trot and from what I have seen he is lovely. I can't actually believe how good he was on the day of the sale to be WTC plus a small jump then the ridden vetting including a gallop, when he must be so sore. He seemed to be loving it.

I may take him for gentle short walking hack today as it is the last day to return him if he turns into a nutter hacking. I very much doubt he will he is so chilled.

I am going to call him Jake.

Also getting teeth done as vendor said she has never had them done and they look to have a fair bit of plague on them, Not something any of my other horses have ever had. Has anyone had this before??

He is so so sweet too. Loves cuddles and stands outside stable nice and quietly, which is such a change from my last youngster who was into the worst mischief you can think of every second

I am just praying the back is easy to fix. I am pretty sure it is just sore muscles from a badly fitting saddle so fingers crossed cos he is JUST WHAT I WANTED even down to his colour

he sounds fantastic, congrats on getting such a fab horse.
Good luck with getting his back sorted, hopefully it will be an easy solution

He sounds lovely. Hope you get his back sorted and glad your search is over.

Are you sure he is by King of Diamonds or is that further back in his pedigree? King of Diamonds was a Irish Draught stallion and he died in 1991.

It's true, he can't be a TB by King of Diamonds

What colour is his passport?

Sounds lovely though, I can't wait to see pictures. All that waiting was worthwhile then?

Sounds lovely, I sometimes think the ones from the sales tend to have a bit more sense having seen a lot of flapping (scary) paper etc

Good luck and hope he turns out to be fab for you!
