These have been the next trial for my very fussy weimeraner and he seems to like them but just wanted to ask you guys your opinion of them (they are being fed combined with james wellbeloved) as he has decided he doesn't like Skinners field and trial anymore.
Or anything else that will help put weight on him.
And he's a couple of pics of him, as last time I got told off for not introducing him!!
He's 2 3/4 and entire (which may be the next thing to change!) does he look too skinny?

Not the best pics to tell, he does look a wee bit skinny but I'd rather have a skinny than a fattie! Is he the type to run all his weight off, by any chance?

Have you tried offering veg or fish oil, eggs, tripe to get some condition on him?

I wouldn't pander to him, he's 'decided' he doesn't like Skinners?! I would keep taking it away after ten minutes and then re-offering later, dogs won't starve themselves.
Also, make sure you're not doing the whole 'pleeeease eat' and watching him and coaxing it, that is a lot of pressure on a dog and can put them right off their grub :o

Re Wainwrights, I use the senior range for my nearly four year old (Don't. Ask) and he is in good condition.

I will try and get some better ones but it is a challenge to get him to stand still to take them!! which I think answers your first question!!
He normally just has his food left down and gets to eat it whenever he wants to (provided my bitch doesn't get there first) but maybe we should try taking it away, he just doesn't seem very food orintated at all.
He was having dog beef mince with his skinners but he decided he didnt want that either, he used to have tripe but the vets advised against it was it wasn't particularly nutritional. I'd rather he was skinnier than fat but he looks so little compared others of the same age, he just hasn't filled out like the other 2 did

Vets are not nutritionists. Tripe in my opinion is THE best thing to feed - talk to any people who have been in dogs long-term and they will tell you the same, from greyhound men to police dog handlers - I am staggered your vet said that, TBH. Dogs are not like us, they don't need 'balance' and 'grains and vegetables' - it's an ideal sold to us by pet food companies. Sorry, not getting at you, but would love to get at your vet!!!

With a dog like this, I would not give him the option to eat whenever he wants - food goes down, he doesn't eat, bye bye food until a few hours later. Free feeding works with some dogs but not all, IMO, I wouldn't be giving him lots of options. But I bet if you put him back on tripe, you will not have a problem.

Ok will get tripe next time instead of the beef mince. Thats why I posted in here as its such a wealth of knowledge, will continue with the wainwrights but once this james wellbeloved is gone he can have skinners with the others again and i'll add some tripe as well.
do you use the pouches? and where is the best (cheapest!) place to get it from? as according to the box he can have 8 a day which could get expensive!!

ah maybe i will investigate that as well, will try the tripe and skinners/james wellbeloved again and see how we get on, and i'll try and get some better pictures of him
