waiting for the farrier

Farriers differ hugely, most seem to be bloody rude (always late or simply don't turn up). I gave up with my last farrier for this reason, my current farrier is brilliant. He is always on time but will text if he's running early or at all late. He has never let me down. I would never put up with one of the rude ones again!

Snap! Though he usually texts me when has arrived - I keep my horses at home.

Just worked out that I've had the same farrier for 30 years!! He is always early, never late and only once let us down, quite forgivable as his truck had been stolen! Like my vet, he is not allowed to retire!

My farrier is awesome! Always on time . My previous farrier was always late, kept me waiting for 4 hours one time, then rocked up and asked if we could leave shoeing my mare for another day. Ummmm no - your shoeing her now!

Hence he got the sack and found my super duper current farrier

current farrier is brilliant - he will text me if hes going to be late [once due to traffic not his fault]... absolute saint with my stroppy 3 year old who had a bad experience... cheshire area if anyone wants a reccomendation....very nice guy :]

There's normal time and then there's farrier time I've decided!

Of course one of the problems is that a few owners don't book all the horses in sometimes. So the farrier arrives to more than he's expecting and then all the appointments that day run late!

My first ever farrier used to leave me a note to say that he'd already done my pony as he had a free slot and could I drop the money/cheque off. He used to make the shoes there too. Showing my age now aren't I?

Mine does this too. Very useful actually, as I do forget sometimes! Also, he's never more than 5 minutes out with his timing. Brilliant.

He arrived just slightly more than two hours late, and ten minutes after I left! Oh well it just means he had to manage the horrible beastie on his own.

My farrier is almost always early. I always book him for first thing in the morning as we have so many horses here and he's with us all morning doing them. I live on site so it wouldn't bother me if he was late though, but for those who travel, or take time off work, to wait at a yard for a farrier, well I can totally understand their frustration.

there is a farrier who comes to where I stable my horse who is usually anywhere between 4 hrs and ten days late!!! people still use him because he is cheap-madness
