Waldhausen safety clips for stirrups

Currently riding my young horse in a Torsion treeless as this is the only saddle I can find that he is happy in. The stirrup leathers attach to a ring rather than a bar so can't come off in the event of a fall. I ride in bent iron safety stirrups but am also thinking of trying these safety clips.

Anyone used them please? Do they come undone when you are not expecting it? If horse throws in a buck, or if you become unbalanced? Or only in a falling off situation?

I used to ride in Barnes Buckles which are similar. They’re not sold anymore and I found I couldn’t get them to clip into the modern stirrups.
However I found them pretty good and never came off unexpectedly. I never had to use them in an emergency thankfully but felt they would work well if needed.

Following this with interest: I've got a pair of Barnes buckles somewhere in the tackroom - I used to ride in them a good few years ago now! They were a really good idea I thought.
