Hi All
i have booked my stable for the wales and west midsummer festival.
i have a newbie question for stay aways. Do i travel down on the thursday night? the stables booking was "book for duration" and didnt make it clear?

Also, i am unsure of what "package" to enter. My horse is way over on points so this year im aiming at all the dodson and horrell amateur classes . i have all my 85s, 1 more 95 to get and i am about to step up to 105. My horse can be very competitive, we came 2nd at Blue Chip and nearly always in the placings.

I dont know whether to put my competitive head on and do the 95 package with the thought of aiming for that leading rider position as i will be vert confident over that height. or whether i should step up and do the 105 . i know my horse would be competitive at that height and i know i would be too, but will be first time stepping up on him.

Hello, I travel past the showground for work and there are usually plenty of lorries in the car park on the Thursday. I’d compete in whatever classes u feel happy.

Back when I did a bit of (very low level, mostly unaffiliated) eventing I remember popping round an 80 and thinking "this is almost boring" so I vowed to step up the next time. It might just have been the course I chose (a girl in the warm up told be she did BE 100 with her other horse and it wouldn't look out of place in that class) but I spent 5 minutes before the start throwing up, it took until about fence 8 for me to stop retching and I shook the whole way round. I know which I preferred!

Show jumping is different though, far less scary. I suppose it's a question of whether you want to try to win or challenge yourself. There's no shame in either.
