Hmmm... *ponders with finger on lips* I've just seen the "Would country boots be OK for walking?" thread and it has got me thinking. My fields are quite hilly/uneven and I know I have weak ankles so about once a month I feel like I've "pulled" (mildly but still annoying) an achilles tendon so I limp around for a few days and eventually walk it off. Either foot can be affected. I wondered whether it might be sensible to invest in some proper walking boots to support my feet better when I'm poo-picking or charging around long-lining my lot up and down slopes. Currently wear a pair of Dickies safety boots which protect my toes, but I'm wondering whether protecting my heel would be the way to go.

Anyone got any thoughts, advice, suggestions please?

I have just bought some new hiking boots that come up over my ankles as I kept twisting my ankle when walking on uneven ground. I did just buy them for walking the dogs but they are sooo nice I am wearing them for long reining and leading my youngster out too. I love them :)

They are Le Chameau Mouflon. They are around 200 pounds online but I got mine from a local shooting and fishing shop for 145

Know what you mean about the slopes - I'm not a million miles from you. I have weak ankles and find lace up boots help a lot but don't get a pair of walking boots with a rigid curved sole, they are very tiring to walk in and put more pressure on your ankles. I wear a pair of Mountain Horse lace up boots for everything and they are just so comfy & supportive - you can get a waterproof style.
