Walking pony inhand on the road

Due to a injury to myself i unable to ride at present, so to keep my Gelding at least active i have to walk him inhand on the roads
I am unsure what i should be using on him for this ie bridle or headcoller?
I currently wear helmet and tabard, i'm thinking of buying him florescent leg wraps thats if he keeps them on?

For safety I would use a bridle and maybe a roller and side reins too. Have a good long leadrope or even a lunge rein (but don't trip over it!)

You could also do some "horse agility" obstacles at home in he paddock too to give him something different to do.

For insurance purposes horses must be led in a bit when on the road. A friend discovered this when looking at her insurance policy as her horses had to be led down a short stretch of road to be turned out. It's also safer

I would be inclined to bridle the horse

I would always use a bridle, but please also use as much hi viz gear as you can, on you and the horse, you can get a hi viz tail guard, winter and summer it's important to be seen

I second sassybebe, for insurance/law purposes you have to use a bit on the road. If something happened whilst out to you or someone else youd be "stuffed" as it would all be null and void.
