Right, On Friday I plan on taking my dog down the park, We have him on a "Large" collar, now this quite lose, I have no idea how he'll be down the park. Im taking him on a lunge line, to let him explore and enjoy a bit. Thing is, SHould I clip the lunge line On to his slip lead (So he cant slip off the lead and run) or clip him to his collar where theres a possibility he'll slip?

A harness with some cushioning is by far the best idea if you're using a lunge line, as your dog is sure to tank off and get an abrupt halt at the end of the line. The last thing you want to do is jar his neck.

I use a fleece-lined harness by Trixie. They are widely available at good pet shops and ebay.

Just a warning that plastic clips are very prone to snapping, so go for a strong one, or the sort that you fix the lead across two rings that go either side of the clip so if it breaks, the harness doesn't come off. The Puppia harnesses look lovely but they break really easily. And my dog is only a Yorkshire Terrier!

I second the Trixie halters, normally my dogs are walked on slip leads or Beastie has a choke chain, but she had a lump on her neck and had to wear a halter so it didn't get irritated. The Trixie one is fab, lovely and cushioned. Mine is the type with the two loops either side of the clip.

She also has a camo pink one (can't remember the make) which is good, but it sat too close to the lump.
