Wall eye

Not a horse but I have a dog.. A collie no less.

Lots of people comment on it, it looks weirder because half his face is white and half black!

Mysti is Dutch Warmblood and solid bay.. I often wonder what's going on in her genes to have the walleye..

That's a rarity in any WB registry. KWPN I presume? What's it's bloodlines if you don't mind me asking? :)

Not entirely sure of breeding but I remember asking and she said that there is no coloured horses etc in her pedigree, as I thought wall eyes were a result of that, but apparently not.

Breeding is Ticallux Verte x Lux x Burggraaf x Concorde if that means anything to you.

I don't think I would buy a horse if it had a wall eye, they freak me out.
When I was small, at my riding stables there was this one grey horse who had 1 wall eye, and the other half blue half brown, and I remember avoiding him as much as possible, then one day my name was down to ride him and he bucked me off! So ever since I've not liked them :D

I'm not greatly up on genetics but I'm aware of some lines in KWPN (Dutch WB) that seem to throw blue eyes and I believe there's a Holsteiner line, probably others elsewhere in other studbooks too but they may be hidden away . Interesting though.

If I was ever going to buy a horse, no, it wouldn't put me off (I've always been told that "a good horse doesn't come in a bad colour") but I don't really like them if I'm honest. There was a lovely cob at the first riding school I worked in, she gave me so much confidence handling and riding, she was so sweet, but I found her eye so unsettling... Makes me think of The Tell Tale Heart :/

I like a pair of blues eyes :) So I love my lad for them.

I love more unusual coloured eyes...I love the amber coloured ones you can get in duns. As long as they're a matching pair, I like them :)

My first horse, a Shire mare, was registered black, but when I got her (she was 12 years old) she was a dark roan. She had one wall eye which I never liked. When I spoke to her or photographed her, I always focussed on her dark brown eye, which made her expression so soft and dreamy.

Wall eyes have been a problem in the breed, so much so that Shire stallions cannot be registered with them. The Shire is supposed to have the face of an angel, the heart of a lion, and the backside of a farmer's daughter. Wall eyes do preclude an angelic appearance. As an aside, Shire stallions cannot be registered if they are roan, as well.

My friend has a fantastically bred solid bay warmblood with one blue eye so its not just cobs.

I like them although I'd prefer them to have 2 blue eyes, I had a cremello once with two blue eyes (do cremellos always have blue eyes?).

Not saying it is. But you don't seem that many TBs with blue eyes! I'm sure they exist somewhere out there but I've known hundreds and not come across one yet!

I love them, my old Skewbald boy Storm had one and it I thought it gave him character. Never had any derogatory comments from anyone either whilst I owned him or when I sold him.

Honestly wouldn't let it put you off a horse, it's just an eye colour not an imperfection!:)

I love Storms wall eye ^^ I have taken several pictures of it :P

I like wall eyes, my doggie (kinda) has one. Hers is blue through injury though.

i love them, but i dont like to call them wall eyes, i just call them blue eyes. wall sounds as if they are wrong. to me they are stunning and i hate the way horses are put down if they have them, anyway i am for them and love them. i have 3 with blue eyes i have 7 horses in all but 3 with blue eyes. this is one of my mares eyes, i think she is beautiful, its like she has black eye liner and white eye shadow and stunning crystal blue eyes, i just love them. i do understand some people dont like them that is fair, but i do hate that when you sell a horse that has 1 or 2 blue eyes it is considered a fault in them, even when the buyer still wants the horse but uses this as a way to get it cheaper. like ok i dont like it but if you lower the price i will put up with it, thats what i hate, if you dont like dont buy, but dont use as an excuse to get price reduced.
sorry as you can tell i feel very strong about this.

Al had a cremello pony for a summer, and although he was a truly fantastic little pony, he was a fugly thing!

I don't think we would go for one, but if they ticked all the boxes (as pony above did!) then it wouldn't impact on our decision. But wouldn't set out specifically to buy one!

I love them! I do also refer to them as blue eyes rather than wall eyes though, thought it was just me until I read this post but seems I'm not alone!
If I'm honest I do prefer both eyes to be blue rather than one (picky I know!) but I think they're really lovely, it would draw me to a horse rather than away from one. Always thought it so odd that good horses are priced down due to their eye colour not being "the norm".

I love my mum's mare's wall eye! I think she's all the prettier for it and she's an UBER pretty cob! :D Unfortunately the 'do is in the way (she has really really long mane and tail) in this photo :o but it's lovely anyway! :D
