Hey all

Some of you have said that your horses have become spooky etc on C&C, how long has it taken to effect them?

Ollie has been really jumpy of the last couple of days and I just want to rule it out of the equation.

Thanks for you help in advance
Chelle and Ollie :D

It took mine about a week to change, and about two for me to actually notice - looking back I could tell she had been different for a few days, by that point. It took her less than a week to go back to "normal" after having come off it.

I've had my ID on C&C for about 2 months now, mostly due to losing a lot of weight and partly as he can be a little hyper and spooky.
Now looks good weight and condition wise and is seeming to take life in his stride (he's usually straight onto Magic Calmer come autumn and spring due to grass-induced crazy head!).
So on that basis it gets my vote for the calm influence!
Could it be the change of weather/grass?
Guess they're like everything else - they're all different - good luck.

Less than a week for my girl - it sent her absolutely nuts. Last schooling session when she was still on it took an hour to get her to walk a 20m circle and one of the other liveries asked if she should call an ambulance as she thought I was going to get mullered!

I couldn't even give the rest of the bag away on the yard as everyone saw what it did to my girl

Mine was fine for about 6 weeks and then became more spooky and tense. Swapped the C&C for Topspec Cool Cubes and went back to being fine AND kept weight better. Went back to normal within a week.

My warmblood has been on C&C for two years and never had any problems, even at the beginning?? I cant rate the feed highly enough.

Thanks guys

I have been in hospital and need to have a couple of days off, so shall monitor him at the weekend when I go back to the yard! He has been on C&C for about 2 months, so wasn't sure if it was that or not

I use it on my young gelding and he is naturally a bit spooky and skitty out and about but fine in the school, so dont think its causing us problems.
I had my last horse a young mare on it and she was a nightmare anyway, I was told that it contains barley and that I should put her on fast fibre instead.
She was a bit better but hard to tell if it really made that much difference, I was also using Alfa A which can also make them a bit hot!
I recommend using just grass and safe and sound with the calm and condition as they both seem to be low in sugar etc.

I have an affiliated showjumping mare competing at quite a high level and she lacked condition so i put her on this and she has since gotten a lot of fizz and been exploding into canter with small bucks and all sorts! And not much extra condition. She isn't on very much at all and still gets fizzy yet not enough feed to put any real condition on so am switching to TopSpec Cool Condition cubes following advice!

Love the stuff for my mare, she looks fab and for a fussy eater, stuffs it down. :)

She's always been spooky anyway, so didn't notice a slight bit of difference when i started feeding it, she's been on it for over a year now.

I suppose this goes to show they are all different, like people, and what works for some may not work for others. Would definately recommend it for a trial though. :)

My normally chilled TB lost some weight summer 2009 and I was advised to try Calm and Condition. I can truthfully say it did not calm him and it did not condition him. He became much more fizzy and spooky than normal. When I took him off it he was back to normal within a week.

when I fed it to my old boy..... it didn't put weight on or calm him... in fact he had a personality transplant and was horrrible, horrible, horrible, both on the ground and ridden. Since it had such an effect I won't feed A & P feeds at all.

Has anyone tried Blue Grass Cool and Condition, I have a REALLY nervous horse and it didn't make him any spookier, if anything he was slightly calmer (he really is a nervous horse so don't expect miracles from food as its just him!) and he put on loads of condition, they also do something called Prep 14 that is amazing for putting on condition :D
