I would love to do agility classes with my dog in the future (he is only a pup now so would start later) however there are none in my area. I have a park up my road which is full of dogs and I would like to set up an agility club there, however I'm only in my early teens so would probably not be able to? My garden is really small and basically too small to do 'proper' agility in, which is why I would love to go to a club with my dog. Do you think I would be able to set up a club? Any suggestions welcome :)

I don't like to poop on your parade but the insurance implications are pretty hefty for dog training clubs. Ours is looking for a new venue at the moment and was quoted 15k a year just in ground rent for an indoor arena, that's not even including the liability insurance.

Equipment is also eye-wateringly expensive, even second hand. The Clix sets you can get for the garden are fantastic for training at home but not good enough for paying clients.

What area are you in? I'm sure there must be an existing club near you. :)

Yes, it's very expensive to buy all the equipment, even for a 2nd hand set you're probably looking at least 800 pounds, then there's the insurance, but the thing I'd be more concerned with is you have no experience of training agility, so don't know how to teach it the correct way, so make it safe for dog and handler.

If you tell us what area you are in we may be able to help you find an agility club. Most good clubs have long waiting lists, quite often about a year.

I was more thinking of setting up the club, and then asking an experienced person at agility to run the sessions. Obviously I wouldn't be able to run it myself :D

Try the agilitynet website. There is a huge list of clubs covering the whole country, I'm sure you'll find one not too far away from wherever you live.
Good luck!!:)
