Having touched on this in the other (totally rambling, de-railed :p) thread I've found a series of photos of dogs serving on the front line. Just thought I'd share. :) I will ask my dad to take some pics next time he's there, if he can.

The first pic was on the cover the Saturday mail supplement - s..t just admitted I read the mail:p - absolutely amazing photo. The boys in uniform aren't too bad either!;)
 
This is a memorial for the War Dogs of the South Pacific in WWII

I watched a documentary on them a while back, and they were amazing - most were pet dogs donated to the war effort, and most of the survivors were successfully rehabilitated and went home at the end of the war.

The soldiers loved them as they could sleep safely knowing they had a dog to watch their backs:)
