Just been watching the trailer on YouTube, I'm not sure if I will go and watch it when it's released in cinema as will cry so much!! What about you?

I'd like to see it but I hope they haven't humanised the horses too much, nothing worse than a movie horse constantly neighing for no reason because peole like to think it's talking.

I will prob drag hubby along...went to see it at the theatre last week. Enjoyed it, but also a bit disappointed as felt it left out parts of the book that were imo quite crucial. Hope the film doesn't.

Has anyone read the book? im not sure to read it before or after the movie? any recomendations on that?:) I heard it comes out in December, is this true?;)

Read the book before, you'll read it in an afternoon. :)

IMDB has it coming out on 13 Jan, not sure if that's here or the US though.

OMG I thought I was being ridicoulous when I thought no way I will be watching that, but I just couldn't, I just don't want to see my favourite animal blown up, shot etc.

Glad I'm not alone, I was beginning to think I was going soft :D

When I was younger it was my fave book! Must've read it every week and cried every time!!! Really want to see the show but no one will come with me as it's so sad!! TBH, if I did go I'd cry loads but probably would regret not going to see it if I don't! Will have to go alone, unless anyone wants to come?! As for the film, will wait for it to come out on dvd, can cry in private then! My great grandads horses got taken off him in the war, while he was in france he swore blind he saw them! This would break my heart and probably pop into my mind during the film lots, therefore reducing me to a babbling wreck!! No, my lounge sounds good!!!!

i cant wait for the film, will def see it. the only film that has ever made me cry is the lion king (although marley& me was close) but that record may soon be broken.

as for book Vs play they are very different. i saw the play first. the story in the play is from the boy's point of view, following him through the war with parts of the horse's story too, but the horse is always kept in the third person (or horse?). in the book the story is from the horse's point of view. it doesnt follow the boy except in the scenes when horse + boy are both there. the story is told as the horse in the first person (horse says i did this etc), black beauty style. so its 2 perspectives of the same story if that makes sense. i really enjoyed both, but feel the play has a more adult aim (not that there is anything innapropriate in it!) than the book which is aimed at kids. will be interesting to see which angle the film goes with.

I don't know if I'm the only one that does this, but I never see a movie - especially horse movies - without wondering how they've done it, what training the horse has had etc and then I spend the next 90 minutes trying to find every subtle aid or command given to the horse. I can't enjoy a horse movie for what it is.

I'm exactly the same with slasher horrors. I sit there wondering if that's a piece of pork or a prosthetic arm they are cutting into. I rarely think that the arm (or whatever body part) is real. I've seen some sick films in my lifetime and have watched every one of them with a quizzical look instead of a scared one.

I'll defo be going to see it.

As long as there's no dancing horses like there was in Black Beauty (circa 1995). That really peed me off.

I can't even really watch the trailer without turning into a sobbing wreck! but I really want to see it so will probably drag fiance along to the cinema when it comes out :o

Likewise - I saw the trailer the other night when I was at the cinemaa to see The Guard and I was already nearly blubbing, I had to eat tons of popcorn while it was showing just to distract me (and it was a blooming long trailer!).
I cried through the first half of the theatre production of War Horse (and had some mad woman staring at me all the way through the second half to see if I'd cry again!). When I saw the trailer I thought "one to see at home, alone" but I'll never wait til it comes out on dvd so I'll just buy a big box of tissues and make a quick escape when the credits come up!

I'm definitely going to be watching it. And no doubt crying most of the way through it. Have been to see the stage show and loved it, can't wait for the film to come out.

Read the book before, you'll read it in an afternoon. :)

IMDB has it coming out on 13 Jan, not sure if that's here or the US though.

It was filmed in the UK so ought to be coming out here first...

Will definitely go see it.

The family enjoyed watching me read the book because I sat there with the tears streaming :o When you are small boys you think this is hilarious :p

I'll go to the film by myself I think :)

I'm pretty sure it's out in December. I have unlimited cinema so may as well go.
However havin jus read the book and cried quite a few times and then seen the theatre show u cannot beat the book! I normally cry quite easily but wasn't even close at the theatre. Think the film wil b similar although hopefully in horse perspective like the book and won't miss as much out.
I highly recommend the book

Out in UK 13 Jan (25 December in the US - shame!)

I will certainly be going to see it and undoubtedly be sobbing my socks off! But I think the cinema will be full of people in exactly the same condition, so as long as we are all kitted out with plenty of tissues and our make-up repair kits, we'll be fine!

I was blown away with the theatre production and the second time I went I took my (then non-horsey) OH - who was also mega-impressed (I'm sure I saw a glint in his eye, too!)

It will be emotional ... and powerful, I'm sure. But it is based on fact, so that's an important thing to remember.
