Warm Bald Leg, any ideas?

Friend's old horse has heat in the front leg, hair falling out on it. Slighty lame at trot on a circle. Had skin tests and x rays, nothing shows up. Was like this last year then got better. Weird. Any thoughts?

I would be hibi-scrubbing initially and then applying sudacrem to affected areas twice daily.

My friends horse had a bad dose of lymphangitis in a hind leg, and not only did it balloon, but serum wept out of it. A few days later the hair fell out.

My mare's body hair fell out following a bad reaction to citronella, and her skin was red hot. Could this old boy have got something on his leg?
