As usual, aware this isn't really CR, but you guys are always so helpful and on the same wavelength.. :D

I have been trying to find some warm riding/country boots which are brown for about week now. (I really struggle with bad circulation in my toes when riding in winter.) I don't have a huge budget which puts ariats and doobries largely out of the running.

I originally fell in love with Toggi Calgary boots, but have heard they don't really last. I love mountain horse high riders but am worried they won't be warm enough for if it gets super cold over winter? Does anyone have these and find them warm?

Have also looked at Cabotswood Chepstows but not sure if they will be warm enough either... does anyone know wht they are like?

I would get some rimfrosts or similar if it weren't that they only come in black (which means I will end up saving them for best and hardly using them!!) Warm is the watchword!! :)

Thanks v much!! Cadbury's Wholenut for everyone who reads this!!! :D

I am a huge Ariat fan and also love bargains. It might be worth keeping an eye on ebay as there have been some real bargains on Grasmeres and Bromonts recently, depending what size you are. Picked up a pair of Bromonts for daughter a few weeks ago, brand new for £150 ok they were black, but there are some brown ones about

I bought my sister a pair of calgarys last Christmas and she's lived in them all year! I've just treated myself to a pair of Canyons, and although they've not been tested yet, they are comfy and warm!

Thanks Ecrozier, are they the cook winter boots??

Thanks alwaysbroke -that is a bargain, the cheapest i've seen is about 190 + postage for Bromonts on Ebay, so I might hang on a bit longer and keep an eye out there!!

3 years ago I bought a pair of Toscana boots from Robinsons. They cost under £80 and they are still going strong. I ride in them daily and they are smart enough for lessons and clinics. I don't think the photo on the website does them justice as everyone admires them. They are warm and are a generous enough fit to be able to use good thick socks. I'll buy another pair when these ones eventually expire.

I've had a pair of Toggi (?) Hamilton boots which I wore for work all last winter and have started wearing agin this year now it's wetter. They are very warm, but in the coldest (minus whatever!) bits of last winter I wore them with Hunter welly liners (like big fleece welly shaped socks) which were brilliant - layers are best for the cold as they trap air between them and you don't need the liners in spring/autumn so you can wear the boots for much longer.

I can't really help as I'm searching for just about the same thing as you.... However, I do have the Toggi Calgarys and have been disappointed. Not terribly warm, not at all waterproof, and haven't worn that well. Am currently coveting the Toggi Canyons which I have tried on and found lovely and toasty.

Oh, and I also have the Dublin Dubarry rip-offs (Rivers?) and they were fab until the lining ripped (after only a few months), and are now annoying to get on and off, and not terribly comfy.

Just got some Ariat Grassmeres on ebay for £155!! Brown too. Told they are very good.

Don't go for the Dublin Rivers - have had mine 1 yr and lining is wrecked. Fab to ride in tho

No recommendations but just don't touch the dublin river boots... mine lasted 6 months max, and I only wore them about 10 times if that. They are uncomfortable, they sunk down and the sole wore away completely. So disappointed with them so I reckon if you were wanting the dubarry type you may as well go for the real thing.

I've got the toggi calgary's , been through two pairs now and absolutely love them :D warm and toasty and fairly puddle-proof ;) Am now upgrading to the canyons, as dog has chewed a lovely chunk outta one of them, so am hoping these will live up to the calgary's standards!

i'm another that wouldn't touch another pair of dublin river boots with a barge pole

bought them to walk courses with so i would have dry feet in wet grass as they claimed to be water proof
water proof my a***s my feet were wet 1st time on and the lining ripped

you can have them if you want but you may aswell walk around bare foot

iv'e just splashed out on some dubarry's so they better be very nice ;)

I'm not sure if they are the cook ones? I got them at a local tack shop last Christmas. I will have a look later when go to yard and pop it on this thread.

I really rate the Calgary ones... they lasted wearing every day through the worst of the mud and snow of last winter.

For warm and cosy I have the Rydale Malham boots...look v like Dubbarys, but third the price and don't seem to have the problems that Dublin copies had / have.

I love my Toggi Calgary's, warm and dry in winter and they're not too hot in summer. They're really comfy to work and ride in.
I the really cold weather, I put these on underneath http://www.sockshop.co.uk/products/ladies_sockshop_long_heat_holders/index (you can get them for about £6 a pair on eBay inc delivery). They are AMAZING, even in just wellies your feet stay toastie warm! Well worth it if like me you have permenantly cold feet!

Thanks so much everyone for the feedback. My trouble is that most people's warm is my cold!!! So I really do need tropical boots!! :D Mr Bels is sure I have Renauds (sp?). Someone in NL has very kindly given me the offer of some Toggis which she was going to ebay so will see which they are first!

I have two pairs of canyons and they are absolutely fab, I have relatively mild raynauds (not sure how to spell it either) too and they keep my feet toasty but I can highly recommend the toggi socks too :)!

I had the Dublin ones first and they didn't last at all so wouldn't get them again!
