Do warm feet (been warm 3 days now) and being extra cautious on stones (always has been but just extra so, and is barefoot and does need a trim)nessarily mean the big L ? my cob isnt leaning back and i cant find a pulse... am i being paranoid as my shetland is recovering? thanks

Warm feet do not necessarily mean laminitis, but if he is a hairy cob it can be quite difficult to find a digital pulse. You are being very wise to be cautious as laminitis is rife at the moment. I would restrict grazing immediately and keep a very close eye on him - at the first sign of being at all "pottery", I would have a vet out. As you have a recovery shetland, you obviously know what you are doing regarding management. It really is like being on knife edge - I have one with Cushings and another mini and I am constantly on lami-watch.

Had the vet out this afternoon, who said it was very borderline as to wether it's lami or not, but given a predisposition to it with age/ breed, then best to err on the side of caution so box rest for a few days then limited turnout with a muzzle. Looks very sorry for himself.
