Hi

My horse hit himself hard on a cross country jump while competing last weekend and has haematoma on his chest. He has been on box rest for the past couple of days and it is very big and has spread backwards. We had the vet out and she put a needle in to see if it was infected but it is not and I am able to start some light work with him. I have heard people say that a warm or cold compress will help but I'm not sure which one to use? It's not going to be drained but it is hard and not liquidy so I don't know which one will be better?

Many thanks

He would be better with some dmso or campagel/ tensolvet applied twice daily rather than hot or cold compress. Your vet should be able to get you compagel.
