Hi, I have a gelding who hates warm up areas and rears. he is fine when ridden in groups at pony club and at home is ridden with other horses but something about warm up areana he hates. Any pointer on how to help him improve as he love the competing part just not the warm up area

Are you sure it’s the horse that hates them and not you? Are you getting nervous and grabbing the front end creating the rear? I would find a local show that you can pay your trainer to come and warm you up and see what they say.

Echo what has been said about seeing if an instructor can come and help. What competing do you do? Can you find a local competition perhaps ride horse at home then travel to show and just ride round lorry park and not go into warm up as such and see how horse reacts to that. Then perhaps cool him down in the warm up or try it for a second class. Play around with different approaches.

Don't go in the warm up arena warm him up in a quiet spot and just go straight in for your class. It is doable and he will eventually realise he can cope

How odd, what kind of competing are you doing? If he’s ok at pony club he should be able to cope with other horses around him.
In my experience (and this isn’t a dig at you just from what I’ve been through too) I find very few situations are down to the actual horse being the problem, more a consequence of how it’s being or been ridden or a physical issue. Is there any pattern to this, is he struggling with a particular type of surface?
otherwise I go back to my original comment on I think your trainer needs to see the problem in person.
