Right, I hope this is OK, I've never done a report for something like this before. I'm a Hartpury student so I was there all weekend gazing at the stallions

All in all I was really impressed with the quality of stallions there. I applaud the handlers who had many horses to run with. I'd be in a heap after running around for that long!

Thanks UK-Warmbloods. I watched the loose jumping but didn't go today. Looking at your list my thoughts nearly matched the results. The only one I was wrong with was Wie Shibumi - he was lovely, thought he would grade!

Thought Woodlander Wavavoom would have took champion he was a class apart for me, I liked him more than Boston. Thanks for the results.

What is the difference between stallions graded in the sports horse register as opposed to the warmblood studbook? Why would a stallion owner choose to go with one and not the other or is the choice made for them depending on type of horse, breeding etc?

Set Adrift is a 15 year old TB who was very athletic, with a great canter. Looked good for his age too.

He was also really well behaved when a young stallion got loose and tried to 'make friends' with him. The handler was incredible too, we were all like this

Luckily the stallion was caught easily and his handler was OK.

Thanks for your lovely comments re. Amour G, (aka Spider). I am still pinching myself as we went with no expectations of impressing anyone in that hallowed company.
I have only just got in from the 5hr drive back and am drained mentally and physically but very, very happy!
Will post more tomorrow!

Congratulations Bananaman, I didn't realise he was yours, I loved him, he really has presence... he was strutting round the arena saying look at me!! (That is assuming he was no. 2?!!.. seeing your photo I am sure I have the right one!!)

I think I've got a good bit of video of him jumping, its from behind but as I liked him I got a fair bit of him playing in the arena between the jumping... I'm going to see if I can get it onto photo bucket, but it has got my voice expressing my like of him on there too!!

No surprise that Set Adrift graded, cracking horse. I tried to breed a mare to him this year but she didnt take and I wont use him again as natural service only and I wont send my mares away again. He one of the nicest TB sporthorse stallions in the country though IMHO

Fab news on Spider grading - worth every second of that 5 hour drive I should think.

UK warmbloods - I dont suppose you got any info on the dam or dam sires did you?

Congratulations Bananaman !!! I bet you are on cloud 9

And - of course 'Congratulations' to everyone else who graded x

Oh well done Bananaman and Amour G, Congratulations, having seen him in the flesh at the Futurity Champs, I am not surprised he did so well.

Makes all the hard work and long hours so worth while.

Well done to all the stallions that received their gradings

Thanks again to all of you.

It was a bit strange, the way they did the results. All six in our group came back in together and walked round then in catalogue order they were going to announce the result.
No. 1 stood up in front of the audience, it was announced 'not licensed' and asked to leave the arena, then as no.2 Spider came along and was asked to keep walking. Huh?
Then in turn the others all came and stood up, result announced and asked to leave. By this time, mum and I were shaking, not daring to think......... but why else would they have done this?
Anyway, then they called Spider back in to stand up and announced that he'd PASSED!!!!!
By this time we were in an embarrassing weeping mess! His lap of honour was lovely to music and clapping and we floated back up the hill to the stables!
Only the one photo so far of him in the gorgeous stallion boxes at Hartpury. (Hope he doesn't want brass finials on his stable at home now!)

I have a catalogue with full 3 generation pedigrees of all stallions if anyone wants info.
Yes, he's in the Sportshorse Register and I have to admit that I'm a bit confused as to the division. It's decided on their breeding, I'm not sure if it's because his sire isn't graded. He is full warmblood and has full verified breeding.
The criteria for grading is exactly the same for full studbook or sportshorse register.
More info here...... http://bwbs.co.uk/BWBSStallionGrading.htm

Yes it will be because Ringo isnt graded by a warmblood stud book. So Cleio will be in the same stud book as Spider if we take her for grading as her dam is graded but she is by Ringo.
How exciting for you to still have him walking round and round while everyone else went out.

I dont suppose anyone can tell me how many were British bred and how many imported?

Congratulations on him passing! He certainly looks a very gorgeous chap. How odd to put him in a different studbook just because his dad wasn't graded. I would understand with something like KWPN, hann, old etc as their rules are established and very clear but for a young studbook it is annoying and to my mind plain stupid. This lovely young stallion has verifiable breeding and has passed this grading successfully in his own right. So why should he be in a diferent studbook from a stallion who has graded sire and dam but which has failed the grading of his parent studbook !!!!!

'Patiently' waiting for the pro ones which we were told would be online today.

Being involved, I didn't get to see them all, except for in the stables.
I have to agree that Boston absolutely danced off the floor and Wawawoom was classy although a little 'bright' at times!
Mum had a lovely long chat with Lee Pearson, who's Bacardi also graded.
