Be aware if you are worming your horse. PLEASE check if you are using Eqvalan Duo batch number 7248!! 9 out of 25 horses at work today have shown signs of reactions. Swelling of the mouth, lips and salivating lots!! One even needed vet treatment!!! Pass this info on to friends and other yards. Our supplier have removed them from sale today and our vet has sent the wormers off for testing.

Thank you

OMG I do hope all of the poor horses are ok now.
And cheers for the warning, just got three packs to worm my lot, will be checking those in the morning.
once again thank you for the heads up.

They are ok now thanks but it was a very worrying few hours, especialy with the horse who needed the vet, he was so swollen we thought it was going to obstruct his breathing at any point. But he had a steroid injection and it seemed to help him. The others swellings went down on their own. Scary stuff, I now have a large port to calm the nerves!!!

thanks for that warning. I am due to go get some wormers myself so will definitely be aware of that particular one. I hope you don't mind but I have posted this message on another forum as obviously word needs to be got out into the horse community.

Please make sure this is reported to the VMD (veterinary medicenes directorate) and a suspected adverse reactions form is filled in......hope the horses are ok.

Hi everyone

My yard has wormed with this over the weekend and my horse plus one of the yard owners has had this same problem. Within minutes the inside of their mouths swelled up on the side they were wormed. The swelling has started to go down now but we were very concerned at the time. We are going to contact the manufacturers to report this but did any of you get to the bottom of why this happened?

One horse is very old almost 30 and mine is 8. There are 29 horses on the yard and only these two showed these symptoms.

Any ideas appreciated!

Also we got the wormers from completely different places, they are not the same batch number.
