just to let everyone aware that the thieves are back on the scene near me

Suppose this post is really for people in South Yorkshire really especially around Thurgoland, Penistone, Deepcar, just to name a few near my yard in South Yorkshire.

I got a call from my YO about 430 ish to say that the horses were alright
grin.gif
after the bad days weather but that some thieving get (thats being very polite) has cut through the chain on the main gates
blush.gif
mad.gif
, wrecked the padlock
mad.gif
, ripped one of the double gates off the hinges
mad.gif
and ripped the hinges out of the post

.
Then theyve gone onto the yard, managed to get hitched up to and Ifor trailer and proceed to drive it off the yard.
blush.gif
Well they didnt manage it due to the incline of the drive.

Theyve tried their damned hardest but gave up. Lots of skid marks in the hardcore. So theyve unhitched it and let the trailer go back down the hill.

Luckily the brake came on and it spun into the field/fencing.
They havent touched my trailer (New Equitrek) or other livery trailer (Richardson) and they havent tried to brake into the containers or sheds, or gone and take rugs out of the stables so that is some good news at least.
YO husbands has been to the yard, fixed the gates & hinges and new heavier duty chain has been put on.

Im really hoping they dont come back tomorrow or soon to try again.

Poor you, sounds horrible. It is such an invasion knowing someone has been rumaging through your stuff and nicking it!!

Fingers crossed they don't come back x

Poor you. Unfortunately they prob will come back when you have renewed everything. I was always told that theives usually come when it is wet and windy coz people dont hear them. Not very reassuring I know

i felt awful when she told me. At first I thought she was going to tell me that the trailer had run straight into the side of mine as its parked at the bottom of the drive. Was so relieved when it hadnt.
Its really bad that someone has decided to do this. Ill feel bloody awful going down there in the morning at 5am on my own. May have to take vicious dog with me.

seriously hope they dont think about coming back with something stronger to have another go.

At least theyve not done any damage to my friends trailer apart from smashing the bulldog lock from the hitch lock.

youre 100% right. I was at the yard from about 5-630am. Livery whos trailer it was gets there any time between 630 and 7 and leave before 8. YO comes down from 8 till about 830 then final livery comes down after 830 depending what shift shes on. Everything was fine. So its happend between about 10am and 4pm.
Im glad theyve got away with nothing. Just hope theyve done some damage to their vehicle like burnt the clutch out of something. Fingers crossed they dont come back a 2nd time

who in their right mind would want to drive a trailer in this weather?? well obviously the b******s who broke into our yard. Wouldve thought theydve thought about the drive but they obviously arent that bright.
yes ive heard that thieves wait till youve replaced everything before coming back. Thats why when some get stole my electric fencing I didnt bother replacing it!

Im really surprised theyve gone for my friends trailer as it isnt new. Probably about 10years old min. Shes done it up last summer and it looks good but no where near like the new ones. They couldve easily had a go at mine or the other liveries. Thank god they didnt.

Even though they havent touched my stuff I feel awful. When my mobile has got some charge in it im going to call my friend to see how she is. She an invasion of your privacy.

Jesus, what a thing to do!
Glad they diddnt get any "reward" for their efforts and fingers crossed they did some (expensive) damage to their car.

they prob did it in broad daylight coz the weather was so awful they knew no one would be around the yard so it would be easy. they went for your friends older one coz it wouldnt look so odd and the police wouldnt be so suspicious. they have prob sussed everything else there so i would take the alternators out of the boxes or disconnect the batteries and secure your trailers up really well. good lucksecurity lighting is very cheap
grin.gif

yes - cant understand why anyone would do it but ive had my last trailer stolen so I know how my mate feels.
im glad they didnt get a reward for their bad behaviour. I just hope they didnt manage to steal one from somewhere else???

more than likely. However the yard is very quiet through the daytime anyway. The road isnt that busy either. I wouldve hated to see them try to get the trailer over the top of the road if they had managed to get it off the yard. They probably wouldve made a bollocks of that as well as again its steep and not a good junction to get out of with a trailer.
They probably have been sussing out when was best to come and also working out when the trailers are used. They all have good security but to be quite truthful if they want your trailer they are going to get it whatever security you have on it, it will just take them a bit longer thats all.
Good point about the batteries and alternators for wagons but there isnt much to do with trailers if you dont have stakes concreted into the ground or youre happy to faff putting a wheel off everytime you want to use it

if it was my trailer i would and it would become habit then. not like you are using it every day . Or i would get a very handy man to rig up an alarm system. they prob realised it is too difficult to get out of the yard and may not bother again and will go round the criminal world not to bother, maybe
smile.gif

i had an alarm on mine (the one that was replaced when my first trailer was nicked) problem is in this wind it would be constantly going off with the movement.
Yes im hoping theyve given up on the idea of coming back as its too much hassle
