Having just waded/swam through roughly a mile of waist-high, sewerage-contaminated water in order to fetch my horse in from a flooded field (which wasn't so much as damp this morning!), then having to be rescued by a neighbour in her 4x4 and taking several hours to get home by negotiating variously flooded or closed roads - please, if you have not done so already, make sure your horses are on high ground tonight.

This area has not flooded to anything near these proportions since 1942 - now it has flooded badly two years running. Madness! The YO's caravan park has had to be evacuated and they are pulling the caravans out with tractors, the water was halfway up their windows.

OMG, glad you and horse are okay - whereabouts are you?

Keep my ponies in Alveley, field is very wet, there is a stream at the bottom

Checked them about an hour ago and okay. A friend in same village who was flooded out last year is on flood alert too

We're just off Wenlock Edge, sort of sandwiched between Shrewsbury and Telford. We are both okay, I am feeling less traumatised now after a hot bath and a night's sleep!

There is a stream running through the YO's caravan park, last night it resembled the river Severn

The water has swept away several caravans (thankfully unoccupied) and torn up all the tarmac off the roads! Just thanking my lucky stars that our stables are on higher ground, horse is in and dry thank god
