Warning - if you have 2 12v batteries on your horsebox

yes, but so were both my last 2, i was told that a high-mileage one was better with a diesel, would have been properly maintained etc, better than one that had been sitting about. my last 2 cargos ran beautifully for years and gave me very very few problems.

Shame about the clutch,it must have been nearly worn out when you got it.The brakes sticking on,Sometimes disc callipers will jam if they are a bit worn, but usually free off immediately you start to use the vehicle, and things warm up.A more serious problem would be if the brakes were binding all the time. This is tested for in the MOT.Rock the vehicle once or twice with a forward then reverse gear.It should unstick if its just jammed.

I think if your mechanic and VOSA cant find a defect, then its just a bit of wear or new pads bedding in>Just keep an eye on it.

Kerilli - it will be your Tacho, even though you don't use it (by putting paper in it) it is still running 24/7. You need to either fit an isolator or a quick fix is to remove the fuse that supplies the tacho, but stick it back in when you want to drive it as your speedo won't work.

No, the person I know did not use hers either... but because it is always on, that was what was draining the battery! Took them ages to find out what it was but when it was sorted, hey presto, no more dead lorry

I had the same issue, could not work out why my batteries were always dead, my nice mechanic fitted me an isloator switch for the lorry and now i have no dead batteries, and it wont move an inch unless i turn the switch, so theft proof too (not that anyone would want my rust bucket!!!)
