We have been approached by someone wanting to buy a horse from us that was advertised on the Horse&Hound classified website.

Be warned that any message from josecooper111@gmail.com is bogus. She/he is a thief, crook, scum, [insert any other low-life term here].

Their initial inquiry read quite innocuously:

"Hello,
I came across your ad and I'll like to know the following questions regarding the ad.
Q#1.How old is the horse, what is its date of birth?
Q#2.What is the Height and weight.
Q#3.Owners name/asking price/phone number.
Q#4.How many people previously owned this horse?
Q#5.Why is s/he selling the horse?
Q#6.What is this horse's illness and injury history?
Q#7.Do you accept a (PayPal)as a mode of payment."

The person never bothered to ride the horse or ask about its competition record. In a subsequent email all they wrote was, "Tell me the condition and the final price...do you accept Paypal?."

Querying this, they replied, "Am okay with the price...provide your Paypal email and your name to make payment..I will also need your pickup address to book shipping because i will be responsible for shipping"

This person has previous form on other classified sites. Attempts to ask them to use the telephone are met with a claim that he is a marine engineer working offshore and couldn't phone. Their IP address places them near Skipton in Yorkshire, but I think they may have also faked this.

I trust the moderators of the H&H site will ban them from further access.

Be careful and good luck!

Thank you Clifton Eventers, perhaps this is nothing new to some but I'm pleased you posted it as others may not be aware.
