crosspost--WARNING!!!!! Walmart sells a rawhide like chew called Exer-Hide - this has been causing MAJOR seizures and death. This product is manufactured in Brazil. This has been happening since December and yet the crap is still being sold. Please - pass this info on! SOLD IN ASDA!!

Thanks for the warning, I bought some from JWs last week I hope they are not the same. Just thinking where did you get your info from because if we could print it off we might be able to get them to withdraw it from sale.

Thanks for the heads up. I think a warning should apply to all rawhide chews. Last week friends dog had one (she doesn't normally allow them but someone at work gave it to him), he managed to chew off a long ribbon like piece which then got stuck in his throat, luckily she spotted him frothing at the mouth and was able to remove it quickly, could have had a different ending though if he hadn't been supervised.

thats what I was thinking when I looked it up, it seems more a case of the dogs not chewing and digesting properly which of course can happen with any rawhide chew. There are a few reports on the above link of more allergic type reactions to this particular brand but I'm not convinced there is much evidence this particular brand is worse than any other.
