Just received this..

This is being passed round by Derbyshire Horse Watch.
There have been 3 sightings of 2 suspicious men with eastern european accents photographing local horses. This could be a steal to order gang. The men have been seen at shows, events and even in a horse owners field taking pictures.
They have been seen in a white van (PM for reg. no. of van) and a red land cruiser (re. unknown)
Police are treating this as suspicious so please contact them if you see anything.
Please pass this on.

There have been two stolen in our area over last two weeks.I dont know if they are the same people but they took cobs.Would it be worth sending details of reg no to our local police incase there is a connection.

I'm not shy.......Reg No of White Van reported as <font color="red"> N253XAJ </font> (NB: This is believed to be a stolen number plate which actually belongs to a cream ford minibus) , no number known for Re Land Cruiser.

Glad everyones getting to hear about it, we are in Chesterfield, Derbyshire. A guy came up to our fields last wedek, fitted discription etc, and was taking pictures, its all been reported been to the police.

Also been seen by people at Highmoor Open Show in Killamarsh, Sheffield wandering round taking pictures.

It all makes it very real to me.

No way?!! That's really scary, I'm in Chesterfield too.

Where abouts are you? I know my friends yard (at Barlow) they had some trouble last week with 'travellers' setting up camp down the road and men eyeing the horses up, asking their age etc.

I've received this from people in Staffordshire and know of someone who's circulating it in Warwickshire.

Yes, it's great to be vigilant but it can't apply to all areas of the country, surely? The registration number is always the same. When you do a vehicle check on that number plate it comes up as a Ford Minibus

I'm thinking it must be a hoax, surely they can't be getting all around the country?

The reg number given is for the white van not the land cruiser so quite possible it's a mini bus without windows.
I agree it does seem odd it's all over the country but better safe than sorry...

If its a hoax then i'm obviously lying about everything me and others i know have witnessed.

To be honest i think that text will have been passed on through to everyone horsey in many peoples phonebooks, just as i know i have done.
Always better to be safe than sorry. I very much doubt they will be travelling the length of the country, but its definately happening around here.
