WARNING - Strangles in Newmarket!

Just had a friend ring me up in a panic to say Strangles has been found in Newmarket. I haven't heard this from anyone else yet so don't know if it is fact or rumour, but thought I'd better let any of you locals know just in case!

If anyone can confirm it, please do so!

I can't say any more as i have been sworn to secrecy, but yes it's in a trainer yards. I'm sure it will be common knowledge soon, you know what racing lads are like for talking.

There is always strangles in Newmarket - at least 2 or three outbreaks a year. Calm down! The NSFA do a good job of warning studs/yards etc.

I also had it confirmed last night. It is in a training yard in town.
May I add, this post wasn't to create panic just a warning to horse owners in the surrounding area.
However, I have not heard of it being in a training establishment in town in recent years.

At least it is in professional yards where the care and prevention to be spread will be at the highest level, when it is in small domestic yards and DIY yards that the problems are greatest, due to there not being the high standard needed to keep the infection contained
