Apologies for taking so long to warn you all about this, but I don't have the internet while I'm living at work!
On Monday morning my horse was found with a suspicious wound in his right shoulder. Two vets and a police officer have confirmed that it appears to be the result of some sort of blade. He was turned out on Sunday night in a field in Swerford (near Chipping Norton) with five other horses at the time, but is the only one in the group who would walk up to a stranger to get a cuddle, he is also blind in his right eye, which is very obvious when you are standing next to him.

The wound is an inch across, and very deep - deep enough to get my index finger into it up the the second knuckle - and cannot have been caused by anything in the field. The fencing is post and rail, with a tall hedge at the back, and I have walked around and around the whole field looking for things that could cause such a clean, straight, cut, but found nothing.

Please keep your eyes peeled, and if you think your horse has a suspicious wound, please please call Thames Valley Police so we can find out who did this to my wonderful Roy boy.

Thank you!
He's alright, a bit of a wounded soldier at the moment because he had a crash with his girlfriend two weeks ago which resulted in an enormous cut on his fetlock, so is all bandaged up and milking it for all he's worth now.
I really, really hope we're wrong, and it was just a horrible accident and I've missed something in the field, but if it happens again, at least we have more chance of finding whoever did this....

the scary thing is not knowing. I remember that spate of these injuries in the 90's, not sure if they found anyone, that was horrible. Poor Roy, huge cuddles to him, sending him good vibes :D
