I have already posted this is the dog section, I am probably the only person on the forum stupid enough to do this, but, today my 5 year old Jack Russel bitch Twiglet aka Pigalet collasped with heat stroke, her life is spent clearing my small holding of birds, foxes, badgers and keeping my other five dogs in order...in other words she never, never stops running, she had had her tea tonight, sorted out the other dogs and was helping me with horses, when she suddenly fell over, I rushed and picked her up, but she could not stand, and her heart was beating extremly quickly, I ran with her to the house and my sensible OH put her in the bath and we showered her with cool water for 15 minutes, I AM lucky she has recovered and is now sleeping on her chair...I was so scared, but she is ok....I am sure everybody else on the forum is more sensible than me...but be careful

Please be careful, however make sure you cool down with luke warm water not cold, as this can make the body go into shock.

Do not be hard on yourfelf Marble, my old weim will not come inside unless he absolutly baked and he is too big and heavy to carry in.

Also you are not as stupid as that policeman

yes, thank you, as I said, sensible OH was using cool water, it is amazing what you can learn even when you are a pensioner, but she is the worse jack russel I have ever had...as regards, what size she thinks she is, but I do believe, she has had a shock too. Thank you for your comments.

three year old grand-daughter cannot say twiglet, it comes out as pigalet, that is why, but maybe, three year old knows more than her grand-parents, and by the way Jack Russell in our case = dobermann, who she regularly put in place... once again thank you everybody.

I know what you mean

But seriously a close shave and thanks for the warning
My dogs have been in the river twice a day this last week cooling off but still run like idiots after the rabbits.
We have had very heavy rain for a couple of hours the air temperature is much kinder tonight--might get some sleep.
