Warts

Are you 100% sure it's a wart hun? How old is the horse? Youngsters often develop loads of warts around the face/mouth because their immune system is still immature, but the warts go with no treatment as the horse gets older. However, if your horse has a single wart on his sheath it doesn't sound as if it's that. Before you start putting things on it you need to be 100% certain it isn't a sarcoid. Sarcoids are a low grade (sometimes) skin cancer and if you start self treating aggressively you could make the situation 100 times worse. There are various across-the-counter preparations that you can buy to treat warts/verrucas in humans but I'm not sure they are suitable for a) a horse and b) a horse's sheath area. You probably wouldn't do much harm if you bought some Thuja cream at 30c potency and applied that every 3 or 4 days but because it's on the sheath I'd start by getting the vet to determine if it's a wart or sarcoid. Take great care hun as warts and sarcoids are very different beasts and sarcoids need the utmost respect so that you don't make them more aggressive.
