Was this (really) mild choke?

I've never seen choke before so not sure.
My mare was eating her haynet (double netted) and stopped eating raised her head and was chewing a lot (no food in her mouth) the occasional groan but mostly just lots of chewing. She wasn't distressed and wasn't drooling or coughing.
I walked her round the school for a while and massaged her throat until it passed. (About 15 mins)
Whatever it was can't have been too bad because if she was distracted by something across the fields she would happily stop and stare at that and the chewing would stop.
Once she seemed all ok she went back into her stable and tucked into her ( now thoroughly wetted) haynet.
She's having her teeth done in a couple of weeks anyway so I wonder if she's got some issues with them.

It doesn't sound like choke, it sounds like she had some hay stuck up the sides of her gums and she was trying to dislodge it.

Thanks, I did wonder if that might be it. As I say, teeth are being done in mid January so I'll speak to the vet about it then. I thought I'd seen her doing the chewing action once before and she must have dislodged whatever it was a lot easier that time.

Doesn't sound anything like choke to me either. Food stuck between gums and teeth is more likely.
