Big youngster. Bought her and she was fairly unhandled. Shes never had a bath, wash anything and would like to show her eventually. We've had her a few months, building up her confidence with being handled in general. She's still abit touchy around her legs and back end, but we're getting there.
Any ideas on introducing her to water? she doesnt like puddles very much and gives me evil eyes when I make her walk through them, but at least she goes through them, right?

We have showed her the hose pipe and she was not impressed. Glued feet to floor, snorted and jumped sideways. It wasn't even on. So im thinking bucket and sponge route. Any other ideas, advice welcome. I know I got to take it slowly.

A bucket of nice warm water and a sponge would be a good introduction. You could also use water and a well rung out cloth as part of your grooming routine. TBH I can fully sympathize with horses who dislike having a cold hose directed at them.

Get in there quick before the hot weather goes. Here is the recipe. Take one very hot, sweaty horse. Stand it near a hosepipe that is barely trickling. Get a helper to stand offering polos at regular intervals. Hide the end of the hosepipe in your hand and just quietly stroke hot horsey's neck with hand/hosepipe. Hold Hand/hosepipe still for a bit on base of neck. Cool water dribbles down horsey-o. Stop exactly 5 seconds BEFORE horsey-o starts to object (yes, you need to be psychic here). Finish with a feed - even if it's only tiny. Do the same thing lots and lots of times. Bingo!
